The study of deutsche-startups.de and Innofact shows as well, that gamers are basically willing to pay for the service: Admittedly, 77 % of the internet-users don’t want to pay for the browser game itself, but accept advertising in the game. There should be a free basic version of the browser game, but 12 % of the players would pay for special features. For 10 % of the gamers, a game free of advertising is the bait – they would be open for payment to have no ads. 9 % of the internet-users think it’s adequate to pay a monthly contribution for the browser game to enjoy all its features.

The sovereignty of men who play egoshooters online is over: Women have conquered the online game market. More and more women play computer games online. Especially, the so-called casual games are liked by women: Studies show that ca. 50 % of the women play them several times per week.
But also men like the principle: Casual games have simple rules, require no long-term time commitment or special skills to play. They are dedicated to players looking for entertaining amusement. Mostly, you find casual games in the format of card games, board games and logic games. The classic Solitaire is said to be the first one among them. Today casual games can have any type of gameplay and fit every kind of genre. Most popular are for example the games Bejeweled and Diner Dash.
Casual games are targeted at a mass audience and often published as advertising-games or on the websites of big internet providers like AOL or Freenet. They are free of charge most of the times, but there also exists a commercial market.
