Social Games – the latest hype?

More recently, another sub-category of Online Games has evolved: the social gaming. Characteristic is the social aspect. You play with or against your friends. First and foremost you play for fun, but also a certain creation of competition is undeniable.

To get better, you socialize in clans and communities. There are chats and forums for cheats and hints. Social games are often implied via applications. On Facebook or Myspace you can find applications of Playfish or Zynga like Who has the biggest brain?, Pet Society or Texas HoldEm Poker.

The demand for online games is huge! More and more people of every age and background turn to the internet for playing online. Immense fun is guaranteed through competition, easy usability and handling. The multiplayer option also generates a social factor which simplifies in-game communication. Generally, online games are free of charge. Certain game extensions or special features have to be paid though.
